Tim has decades’ of experience helping American bison with people problems. He has given presentations to State, regional and the National Bison Association on handling, facility design, Parasitology, and bison management. He has been published on the same subjects in multiple journals and periodicals and has also been instrumental in changing state and federal laws for bison, as well as active on the state and national level in working groups and committees. Tim has a two-year degree in Livestock Technology, and multiple PHD’s in Bison-ology from the school of hard knocks. He became PAACO Certified in January of 2022 and applies his ability and experience to consulting humane bison handling and handler training at meat plants interested in killing bison. He teaches the value of regarding bison as distinctly different from domestic livestock, with needs and emotion, and incorporates the NAMI Guidelines in all bison handling scenarios. Mean while back on the ranch, Tim has multiple herds that he consults on bison management and handling. He is currently full-time bison operations manager at Southwest Bison on the ranches, at the growing finishing yard, and over sees operations for between two and six thousand head of American bison for Southwest Bison in various operational scenarios that include growing and finishing, cow/calf, breeding stock development and selection, herd handling, field treatment, humane transport, and meat plant handling.
